Education: Extensive training in jazz, ballet, tap, and hip hop. Training includes studies with J. David Kirby, Max Stone, Joe Tremaine, Colibri Wegerer, George Skibine, Finis Jhung, Tanju Tuzer, Buster Cooper, Paul Draper, Sheila Barker, Joe Lanteri, and Savion Glover. I have attended workshops, master classes and conventions for the past twenty years. My professional development includes travel to New York City (on a yearly basis) to study at Broadway Dance Center, Steps and Dance Space as well as continuing to take classes in the Dallas area.
College experience includes three years as a dance major at Texas Woman’s University. I began my dance training at the age of three with Dallas Metropolitan School of Ballet.
Teaching: Over twenty five years experience teaching, coaching and choreographing for area studios, academic and convention settings. Thirteen years adjunct faculty at Brookhaven College as instructor of jazz and hip hop as well as substitute instructor for Brookhaven College, Northlake College and Richland College in jazz, modern and ballet. Other teaching experience includes assisting J. David Kirby and Max Stone at Southern Methodist University. From 1988 -1990 I assisted Max Stone in setting choreography on Dallas Black Dance Theater , Booker T. Washington School of the Performance Arts as well as outside freelance instructional projects. In 2000 I was artist in residence and guest choreographer for the University of North Texas dance program. Also, I have served on the roster of Young Audiences of Dallas and Arts Reach teaching in public schools, libraries, recreational centers and juvenile detentions. As a free lance hip hop educator I teach workshops for the North Texas Library Systems and area urban education outreach programs. This past summer I was invited to give master classes for the Arkansas Dance Network summer hip hop convention in Little Rock, AR.
I am currently teaching at Brookhaven College, Tuzer Dance Center and Dance Institute of Dallas.
Choreography: I have choreographed commercials, videos, industrials and concerts, as well as studio productions, galas and competitions. Some of my clients have been General Motors, J. C. Penny, Showcase Productions, Hard Rock Café Dallas, Chucky Cheese, Starsearch group “Bodyrock”, Eddie Coker and Denton Jazz and Arts Festival.
